Dear Fellow PCREC Members:

The PCREC has had a very busy month indeed. I met with the Presidents of the ten Republicans Clubs in Pinellas County to determine how to increase membership and share winning strategies. Eight of the ten Clubs are geographically organized, while the other two are age-based (members of the Greater Pinellas Young Republicans are ages 18-40) or ethnic (the Hispanic Republican Club). These ten Republican Clubs (and soon to be an eleventh club which is organizing now in Oldsmar/Safety Harbor) throughout Pinellas County are crucial to the continued success of our Republican candidates.

Florida Legislative Session 2009 Highlights

The Florida legislature adjourned Friday, May 8th after a week-long extension. Budget talks during the last week of session required legislators to meet past the normal 60 days. In the end, both chambers were able to agree on a $66.5 billion budget that relied on a $1 dollar per pack cigarette tax, an expansion of gambling at Seminole Indian casinos and pari-mutuels across the state.
